Shaak Ti was a Togruta Jedi Master who served the Galactic Republic as a master of the Jedi Order in the last decades of the Republic's reign. Described by Mace Windu as "beautiful as a flower, yet as deadly as a viper", Shaak Ti demonstrated wisdom and clarity in battle with deadly skills while wielding a Lightsaber. Joining the High Council before the Clone Wars, she took on the rank of General within the Grand Army and was tasked with the oversight of Clone Trooper training on the cloning planet Kamino. As a Jedi Councilor, Shaak Ti would prove integral to the Republic efforts during the Clone Wars as she was involved in many epic conflicts during the war, such as the Battle of Kamino, where she helped to protect the future generations of Clone Troopers growing at the facilities. Near the final days of the war, Ti was assigned to the Jedi Temple, where she was killed by Darth Vader during Order 66.

Biography

Jedi Master of the Order

Brought into the Order

Shaak Ti, like most Jedi of the era, was found on her home planet Shili as an infant when she was identified as a Force-Sensitive. After she was brought to the temple on Coruscant, Ti entered into the Jedi academy there and spent the next decade studying the ways of the Jedi and the Force. After she became a Padawan, Shaak Ti traveled the galaxy to train under a master, and eventually she was able to pass the Trials and be appointed a Jedi Knight. Shaak Ti pursued the path of the Jedi Consular, strengthening her connection to the Force and working under the Council of Reconciliation. Like others of the Order, Ti was permitted to travel to her planet of origin, so as to undergo a traditional Togruta right of passage in which she tracked and killed a beast and crafted an elegant headdress from its teeth. Eventually, Shaak Ti was recognized by the High Council as a highly trained Jedi and raised her to the rank of Master. As a Master, Ti went on to complete many assignments, gaining great respect from her peers.

Dawn of the Clone Wars

After Master Yaddle was killed circa twenty-five years before the Battle of Yavin, Master Ti was nominated to the august body to replace the diminutive Master. Accepting the appointment, Ti would contribute her insight to the governing Council for several years. Years later, as tensions between the Republic and the Separatist Alliance threatened to split the galaxy in two, an assassination attempt was made on the Senator of Naboo shortly before the vote of the Military Creation Act. While the assassination was foiled by the Jedi, the Council assigned Padawan Anakin Skywalker to escort Senator Amidala back to her homeworld while Skywalker's master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, tracked the individual who had put the hit on the Senator. Shaak Ti participated in the Battle of Geonosis, the conflict that sparked the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance. As a participant, she was a member of the Jedi strike team assembled by fellow Jedi Council member Mace Windu to rescue Kenobi, Skywalker, and Amidala from being executed by the Separatists. The Jedi strike team along with the help of the Republic's new Clone Troopers would successfully rescue the trio and win the first battle in the Clone Wars.

Duties on the Planet Kamino

As the war began to gain momentum, the Jedi High Council decided to dispatch one of their own, Master Shaak Ti, to safeguard the clone production facilities and oversee the training of the clone cadets training there. Serving as adviser to Prime Minister Lama Su, Ti worked with the Cuy'val Dar trainers at Tipoca City to administer the tests that each clone squad had to pass before they saw battle. One squad in particular, Domino Squad, seemed to lack what it took to ever see battle, disappointing even their teachers. Bounty hunter Bric deemed them a failure; hunter El-Les wanted to be sympathetic. Shaak Ti initially failed the group, but after giving them some motivational advice, the four clones passed their final test and were deployed. After the Republic intercepted a message between General Grievous and Asajj Ventress discussing a planned attack on Kamino, Ti and Prime Minister Lama Su greeted Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Knight Anakin Skywalker when they arrived in Tipoca City with reinforcements. A Separatist fleet soon arrived and engaged the Republic blockade that defended Kamino. Ti monitored the progress of the battle from Tipoca City's control room alongside Kenobi, Lama Su, Captain Rex and Commander Cody.

She noted that the Separatist fleet was not large enough to defeat the blockade, and ordered Skywalker to lead the Republic's fighters in assaulting the enemy. Several Munificent-class star frigates were destroyed protecting Grievous' flagship, with their debris crashing in the ocean near Tipoca City. Kenobi became concerned that the battle was too easy, and left Ti and the others to investigate the wreckage. He discovered Aqua droids assembling Trident-class assault ships underwater, but was unable to warn the city before the droids began their assault, which was led personally by both Grievous and Ventress. When the control room came under assault by several Aqua droids, Ti quickly dispatched them and contacted the other Jedi, noting the attacking droids were spread thin throughout the city and that the Republic needed to press their counterattack quickly. While Kenobi engaged Grievous and Skywalker hunted down Ventress, who attempted to steal a genetic sample of the clone's DNA, Ti led the Clone Troopers in pushing the droids back to Tipoca City's main hangar, contacting Cody to inform him on the progress of the battle. The remaining droids were soon destroyed and the Separatist fleet retreated, although both Grievous and Ventress managed to escape from Kamino.

Conspiracy Against the Jedi

Later in the war, Shaak Ti presided over the arrival of trooper Tup on Kamino for a medical examination. During the Battle of Ringo Vinda, Tup had repeatedly slipped into a trance before inexplicably murdering Jedi Master Tiplar in the heat of battle and later trying to attack her sister Tiplee. Shaak Ti assured his friends that he would be fine, but he later died on the operating table. The cause of his death and malfunction was discovered to be an inhibitor chip in his brain, prompting further investigation. ARC-5555, or Fives, had his own chip removed and both were taken to Coruscant. Once there, however, Fives apparently went berserk and attacked Chancellor Palpatine before fleeing into the underworld, closely pursued by Shaak Ti. The whole incident was explained as a parasite having corrupted the chips, but Ti was left unaware that the chips were part of a plot that would see the near-total destruction of the Jedi Order. At the end of the war, Ti failed to prevent Grievous from arriving onto Coruscant and kidnapping Chancellor Palpatine. On the night the Jedi Temple was attacked by Darth Vader, Shaak Ti met her end at the hands of the fallen knight when she meditated during the attack, but not before she left a message within a Holocron urging for the continuation of the Jedi.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

The Force: Regarded as a Master of legendary power and strength in the Force, Shaak Ti was a humble woman whose preference for negotiations did not detract from her prowess with a Lightsaber. A natural fighter, Ti preferred to focus her energies into the studies of a Jedi Consular, focusing in the fields of diplomacy and healing. One of Ti's greatest gifts was her ability to commune with nature more deeply then most Jedi of the era. Able to control fauna and direct them with her will, she coupled this with a technique which enabled her to alter the environment. Shaak Ti was capable of using telekinesis and would use it in conjunction with the environment against her foes. Shake Ti utilized Taming beasts to control the minds of other animals. Shaak utilized Mind control, to control the minds of other sentient beings, however, it did not work on individuals who have very strong wills.

Abilities

Lightsaber Skills: Aside from her mastery of the Force, Shaak Ti was well versed in several forms of Lightsaber combat. Considered one of the finest swordswomen of the era, her colleagues regarded her as one of the most cunning warriors of the day. A practitioner of both the Makashi and Ataru forms, Ti was described as being incredibly graceful, a trait that was amplified by her exotic pigmentation and coloring. Her skill in Makashi was even compared to that of Count Dooku. While Ti preferred these two forms, she was well trained in all of the standard forms, utilizing Jar'Kai techniques and wielding dual blades. Easily fighting in crowds, Ti was aided in clearly perceiving her surroundings by the hollow spaces in her cranial horns, or montrals.

Equipment

Weapons

Shaak Ti's Lightsaber: A blue-bladed lightsaber was wielded by the Togruta Jedi Master Shaak Ti prior to and during the Clone Wars. Her skill in lightsaber combat even permitted her to hold off General Grievous, although only for a while. Shaak used an azure-blue generic clan-design bladed lightsaber upon gaining her title of Jedi Knight. She used it before and throughout the Clone Wars and continued to wield it until her death at the hands of Darth Vader, it is unknown what happened to it after Shaak's death. Shaak Ti was regarded as one of the most powerful Jedi of her time, both in her mastery of the Force as in her lightsaber combat skills, which she mastered to a degree that made her one of the finest swordswomen in the Jedi Order.
