Rey Skywalker (born Rey Palpatine), once known only as Rey was a Force-Sensitive Human who grew up alone on the planet Jakku, hoping that one day her parents would return for her while honing her skills as a scavenger and a warrior. Her life would change forever when she met BB-8, a droid of the Resistance who carried within him a map leading to the legendary Jedi Luke Skywalker, and a renegade Stormtrooper who named himself Finn. They were hunted by the First Order, forcing them to flee aboard the Millennium Falcon, eventually finding help from Han Solo and Chewbacca while traveling to the Resistance base. While on Takodana, Rey found an old Lightsaber that belonged to the Skywalker family but turned it away along with the blade being a sign of her destiny. Rey was soon captured by the dark warrior Kylo Ren and while in captivity she discovered her own Force-Sensitivity. With her latent connection to the Force, Rey escaped Starkiller Base and defeated Kylo Ren in combat.

With the map to the lost world of Ahch-To now completed, Rey ventured to the first Jedi Temple and found Skywalker himself in exile.

Biography

Life on Jakku

Rey then grew up on Jakku, eking out a life as a scavenger and hoping that one day whoever had left her on the barren desert world would return. She learned how to survive, becoming a gifted mechanic, pilot and warrior. But she seemed destined to live out her days on a forlorn backwater world, ignorant of the larger galaxy and its perils and possibilities.

The Adventure Begins

Rey’s life changed when she encountered BB-8, a Resistance astromech carrying a star chart offering a clue to the location of the long-lost Jedi master Luke Skywalker. Rey and the renegade stormtrooper Finn forged an unlikely friendship, escaping Jakku and finding themselves caught in a galactic war – with both of their destinies shaped by the awakened power of the Force.

Personality

Rey is an extremely pure-hearted, kind, brave, heroic and benevolent individual.

The harsh realities of such a world like Jakku could have easily made a person cynical or guarded against sympathy and weaknesses, but not Rey. Despite seeking out a meager existence in the scorching heat of the Western Reaches planet, Rey possessed a heart full of generosity and a willingness to help other people in need.

It was this willingness that led her to not only help BB-8 be free of Teedo's interference and Plutt's attempts to acquire the droid, but also led her to help BB-8 in its mission to return the star map it carried to the Resistance. Though she never wanted to leave Jakku for fear that she would not be there when her family returned for her, she believed in the importance of the Resistance and its fight against the First Order enough that it gave her strength to continue on BB-8's mission to find Luke Skywalker and defeat the First Order.

Her encounter with Maz Kanata profoundly impacted how she saw herself and what she was capable of, and Rey began to see that she was part of a larger galactic fight—and that the power of the Force was with her. Her recognition of these abilities and her destiny coincided with turbulence in the Cosmic Force, which for years had remained dormant and ultimately led her to find Luke Skywalker.

Rey's kindness and compassion reaches even Kylo Ren, that was her enemy at first. Through their Force Bond connections she starts to understand the reasons behind his persona and realises how his loneliness and pain mirrors a lot of her own. When she learns the full extent of his past she becomes determined to bring him back to the light side. Even when her attempts failed, Ren is legitimately touched by her genuine warmness towards him and, as a result, they fall for each other. Later, her love is one of the key things that encourages him to leave his Kylo Ren persona.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

• The Force: as a Force-sensitive Rey had a connection to the Force. As the granddaughter of Darth Sidious, Rey is very powerful and has a very strong connection to the Force, described by Ren as stronger than she realizes. However til learning from Luke she received very little training and depends mostly on skills she learned before she knew she was Force-sensitive or watched someone else use the Force.
  • Telekinesis: Rey utilizes Telekinesis either as offensive or defense and manipulate physical matter in a variety of ways with her mind. her power was proven to rival that of Ben Solo. In an event that Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber was calling to her, she was able to pry the lightsaber out of Ren's own telekinetic grip when he tried to summon it to his hand, causing it to fly past him and into her hand instead. Additionally, after the Battle of Crait, Rey proved capable of lifting and moving a pile of small boulders simultaneously without much effort to open a passageway out of a cave for the Resistance. After a year of training with Leia on Ajan Kloss, Rey was able to levitate both herself, and large piles of stones high in the air. During the time of Palpatine's return to power, her power was great enough to tug a prison transport vessel towards the ground, though she still struggled immensely to do so, and held the medium-sized starship in a contested grip with Ben, whose power matched hers. Additionally, while attempting to contact the Jedi from the past during meditation, she was able to make herself levitate, and cause several rocks to orbit her in a manner similar to planetary rings.
    • Force Pull: Rey utilizes Force pull to draw close a material body. She repeatedly has been able to summon the Skywalker lightsaber to her with ease, once holding it in a contested grip with Ben Solo, who was similarly attempting to summon the weapon, until it was broken in half and unleashed a burst of energy that stunned both of them.
    • Force Push: Rey utilizes Force push to push objects, people and other dangerous creatures farther away from her. She did this with Finn to keep him away from her fight with Ben Solo.
    • Saber Throw: Rey utilizes Saber Throw to telekinetically guide her lightsaber towards her opponents, similar to a boomerang or shuriken. She performed this technique while practicing in the training course run by Leia, casting the lightsaber through the woods and then telekinetically guiding it back to her hand, all while simultaneously summoning a stick from the ground and smashing a training remote against a tree.
    • Force Grip: Rey utilized Force Grip to lift her opponents off the ground and into the air to immobilize them. She demonstrated by directing the aim of a Sith Eternal guard towards a second, as well as telekinetically slamming a third into the floor before casting him aside.
    • Force Stasis: Rey utilizes Force Stasis to slow down or completely halt the motion of a target, holding it in place with a paralyzing grip. She managed to use this technique to block and momentarily freeze Ben Solo's lightsaber blade in place as the two of them dueled atop the ruins of the second Death Star, though Ben managed to pull his lightsaber free from the grip.
    • Force Deflection: Rey utilizes Force Deflection to redirect incoming attacks, such as blaster bolts or Force lightning, with or without her lightsaber, though it was difficult to do so. She used this ability against Sith Eternal guards surrounding Palpatine on Exegol, telekinetically catching and turning their blaster fire back at them. While assisted by the spirits of the Jedi, Rey was able to use both Leia and Luke's old lightsabers in conjunction with her force powers to turn Palpatine's lightning back on him, which disintegrated him.
  • Telepathy: Rey utilizes Telepathy to read minds or mentally communicate and project the user's thoughts over small or vast distances with other individuals and feels the emotions of others.
    • Mind Control (Mind Trick): Rey utilizes Mind control, to control the minds of other sentient beings, however, it does not work on individuals who have very strong wills. It took her three tries to master her first mind control power.
    • Mind Probe: Rey utilizes mind probe to sift through the thoughts of a sentient being. She was able to resisted Kylo Ren's attempt to probe her mind for the map to Luke Skywalker's location, and even turned his attack back on him to discover his own fears of inadequacy in the shadow of Darth Vader.
    • Taming Beasts: Rey Peering to Fisto's face.
  • Force Vision: Rey Peers in Tiin's corpse.
  • Force Sense: Rey utilizes Force sense, to sense another sentient being's emotions, the future, ripples in the Force caused by momentous or traumatic events, or impending danger and the presence of the dark side. She learned this when Kylo attempted to use it against her.
  • Force Dash: Rey utilizes Force Dash to move at amazing speeds.
  • Force Jump: Rey utilizes Force Jump to leaping across great distances, which she would use to avoid Ren's fighter and to avoid a tidal wave when fighting Ren for the last time.
  • Force Healing: Rey utilizes Force Healing, to heal herself or other sentient beings. Using this ability, she was able to heal Ben Solo of a mortal wound she herself inflicted. She also used this ability on a vexis snake.
  • Battle Meditation: Rey utilized Battle Meditation, allowing her to renew her morale, stamina, and overall battle prowess. This allowed her to defeat the more skilled, yet injured, Kylo Ren in battle by meditating on the Force as Maz Kanata taught her.
  • Force Bond Connection: As a consequence of them being a Force Dyad, Rey and Kylo have a Force bond that connects them at random moments. During the connection, they are able to see, talk and touch each other through spaces.
    • Fold Space: Rey utilizes Fold space to bend space to instantly transport an object between places during a Force bond connection. She used this ability to send one of her lightsabers to Ben Solo.
  • Force Lightning: As the granddaughter of Darth Sidious, Rey had inherited her grandfather's signature ability; to use Force lightning, however, she has no control over it. In anger, Rey accidentally used this power to destroy a First Order transport. After experiencing this power and believing that she killed Chewbacca with it, Rey never used it again.
  • Focused (Force) Rage: Rey utilizes Focused Rage to channel her anger to increase her speed, strength, endurance and ferocity, though doing so runs the risk of corruption by the dark side of the force. While first meditating on the Force for strength, her rage assisted her in overwhelming the weakened Ben Solo in their first duel. Due to her growing frustration with Ben and her fear of her own lineage, Rey used these aggressive emotions during her subsequent fights with Ben, though to a lesser effect due to his recovery from his injuries and greater resolve, as well as her own unbalancing. During their final duel, it took Ben being distracted by sensing his mother's death, which caused him to drop his lightsaber, for her to gain the upper hand. Dominated by rage, Rey grabbed the lightsaber, and impaled him with his own weapon. However, sensing Leia's death herself, she was able to let go of the hatred, and come back from the brink of the dark side of the Force. Realizing what she did to Ben in her moment of anger, she immediately regretted it, so she healed him.

Abilities

• Lightsaber Skills: Despite having no training, Rey has some skills in lightsaber combat and is a very gifted duelist. Rey was able to defeat Kylo Ren, despite the latter being far more skilled and experience in lightsaber combat then she is. However, it should be noted that Kylo had already been wounded by Chewbacca and Finn, and thus was not at the peak of his strength. Despite her short time training with Luke, she improved enough that she was able to fight Supreme Leader Snoke's Praetorian Guards on even terms alongside Kylo Ren and eventually with his aid, overpower and kill the eight deadly warriors. As of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Rey's lightsaber combat skills had greatly improved to the point, that she could fight on par against Ren, but she was ultimately no match for him, as the Dark Jedi eventually overpowered her; which was demonstrated during their last confrontation on Kef Bir. During this last confrontation, she only managed to mortally wound him when he was distracted by the interference of his mother, Leia Organa.
• Skilled Hand-To-Hand Combatant: Rey has lived most of her life alone and learned unarmed/armed combat out of necessity, usually with her staff. Later, she uses these skills in a similar situation, this time with a Lightsaber.
  • Skilled Staff Fighter: Rey is a very skilled staff duelist, having used her quarterstaff most of her life and developed combat skills with it, becoming very experienced while she was still living on Jakku. In order to defend herself and survive on the desert planet, she used her quaterstaff as a weapon, eventually becoming a very skilled and deadly duelist while fighting with it. This is shown when she is at the Niima Outpost, where a pair of thugs sent by Unkar Plutt try to capture BB-8 because she had refused to sell the droid to him. She wields her staff against the thugs and easily manages to fight and knock out them both by herself, despite them being larger and therefore physically stronger than her. Using her experience with the quaterstaff, Rey was also able to adapt her combat skills to duel with a lightsaber, but she still continued to train with the staff as seen when she was on Ahch-To. Later, she was capable to even surprise the Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, knocking him down with the staff and briefly fighting with him using it after discovering that he had attempted to murder his own nephew, Ben Solo. Despite Luke having more years of experience in combat, which allowed him to defend himself from her furious attacks, she was able to keep up with him until she was disarmed of her quaterstaff, but she subsequently immediately called the Skywalker lightsaber, causing Luke to fall on his back on the ground and ending their confrontation. During her Jedi training on the Resistance base of Ajan Kloss, Rey used a regular tree branch as a staff to take down a red blaster probe droid. Later, on Kijimi, she used her quarterstaff and was able to take down Zorii Bliss and her spice runners with ease, until she used the Skywalker lightsaber to halt Zorii in her trail. Afterwards, while constructing a new lightsaber, she had considered making it double-bladed, fitting into this fighting style, but she later gave up the idea upon seeing the dark version of herself using one.
• Skilled Markswoman: Rey is skilled in utilizing blaster pistols and blaster rifles.
• Master Pilot: Rey is highly skilled in piloting various speeders and every type of flying craft, only rivaled by Anakin and Saesee Tiin.
• Master Engineer: As a scavenger, Rey must have a good understanding of engineering and the things she collects. She has knowledge about multiple different machines and ships, which proves useful when she accidentally comes into possession of the Millennium Falcon.
• Genius-Level Intellect: Rey is amazingly intelligent and wise, which allows her to learn very quickly in different areas of knowledge. Besides being gifted and experienced on mechanics, piloting, languages and combat from the time she spent on Jakku, she later is shown to be very talented in acquiring new knowledge and powers using her newfound sensitivity to the Force. She was able to improve her lightsaber combat skills after training briefly on Ahch-To. After only one year training her use of the Force and reading the sacred Jedi texts, she was able to greatly improve and expand even more the variety of Force powers she can use, being Force healing the most noticeable of them.
• Meditation: Rey can further amplify her connection to the Force with a clear mind by meditating.
• Multilingual: Rey is capable of fluently speaking English, Shyriiwook and Binary.

Weapons and Equipment

• Quarterstaff: Rey utilizing a quarterstaff as her weapon of choice.
• NN-14 blaster pistol: Rey utilizing a NN-14 blaster pistol by Han Solo.
• Skywalker's lightsaber: In Maz Kanata's castle, Rey also learned that Skywalker's lightsaber was destined for her, as the Force beckoned her to claim it. The lightsaber was built by Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars and, after it was lost to Luke Skywalker during a duel with his father, it was salvaged from the depths of Cloud City. Rey finally claimed the lightsaber during her duel with Kylo Ren, and she carried it with her to Ahch-To so she could present it to Luke Skywalker himself

• Leia Organa's lightsaber: After Skywalker's death, his Force spirit gave Organa's lightsaber to Rey, as he believed Organa would want the Jedi Padawan to have her weapon. During the Battle of Exegol, Rey used the lightsaber in tandem with the Skywalker lightsaber to deflect Darth Sidious' Force lightning back at the Sith Master, killing him.

• Rey Skywalker's lightsaber: Rey's lightsaber was built of salvaged materials from the maker's quarterstaff and a cloth handgrip. The weapon had a kyber crystal at its heart, and emitted a yellow-colored plasma blade when ignited. The emitter matrix on Rey's weapon featured a rotating gear-like mechanism, which caused the emitter of the lightsaber to open up and allow the plasma blade through.
