As a Resistance pilot he served as one of the general Organa’s most-trusted operatives and also a decorated X-wing fighter pilot that could fly anything, which is fortunate given how often this headstrong nature led him to trouble. Poe's personal astromech BB-8 accompanied him at several missions including Battle of Starkiller Base which Poe led their attack that destroyed this weapon. Poe inadvertently brought a defected stormtrooper Finn and the scavenger Rey into the fight against the sinister dark forces in the First Order.

Biography Edit

Early Life Edit

Born two years before the Battle of Endor, Poe Dameron was the son of Shara Bey and Kes Dameron, who had both served in the Rebel Alliance in the war against Galactic Empire. As an infant, Poe rarely saw his parents due to the Rebels continued operations against the Imperials before and after Endor, as his mother worked as a Pilot of an Rebel Green Squadron and his father was a warrior of the Pathfinders, and Poe Dameron was thus then was left in the care of Poe's grandfather. Six months following Battle of Endor, after a Imperial Remnant faction had enacted Operation: Cinder, Poe's parents left rebels service to reunite with him, settled on Yavin 4 and build an house—close to which they planted the Force-sensitive tree, a gift from Jedi Knight and a legendary hero of the Rebellion, Luke Skywalker.

At the age of six, Poe Dameron began to learn how to fly in his mother's old RZ-1 A-wing interceptor, which was part of his mother's compensation package when she mustered out of the rebellion. She would take Poe Dameron up in it, and he would sit in her lap, learning how to control the ship from Shara. Tragedy struck the Dameron family when his mother had unexpectedly died; at the time Dameron was only eight years old. L'ulo L'ampar, Bey's fellow Rebel pilot and friend helped raise Dameron, and was thus like family to Poe. Eventually, Dameron became a Pilot himself and joined the New Republic Defense Fleet. Upon entering New Republic service, he began to learn the true scope of his mother's heroism, and he himself rose through their ranks, becoming a commander of the Republic, and earned the reputation of being an extremely skilled Pilot. Given command of the Rapier Squadron, a group of T-85 X-Wing starfighters, Dameron also met his astromech BB-8 who would assist him during flights as Rapier Leader and become an steadfast friend from then on.

New Republic Service Edit

New Republic Starfighter Pilot Edit

Poe's squadron was stationed at an Mirrin Prime Republic base under Major Lonno Deso. In time, Dameron came to be aware of the threat the First Order did represent and leeway they were given by their Republic, but he and his squadron were merely deployed to patrol trade lanes in Mirrin sector and protect ships from piracy. After weeks of inactivity, Poe's scanner picked up the distress call from Yissira Zyde. Once BB-8 pinpointed this exact location above Suraz 4, Poe and fellow pilots Karé Kun, Iolo Arana, and Muran—made the jump into lightspeed, expecting to find the Zyde under a pirate attack. However, they'd found the freighter sieged by First Order TIE fighters, which proceeded to attack them. Breaking them into two groups, Dameron and Kun attacked TIEs while Arana and Muran broke off the shuttles attacking a Yissira Zyde. Though during the skirmish Poe fell five enemy ships, and Kun the other three, their group lost Muran. Afterwards, Poe tried to convince Desso to contact the Resistance or investigate the attack, but as the new Republic Command had been ordered not to take action against the First Order Imperial Remnants, Commander Dameron's request was denied.

When they were sent on a patrol once again Dameron split up from Kun and Arana to do an reconnaissance mission of the Yissira Zyde’s hyperspace trajectory alone with BB-8. Together they made it to OR-Kappa-2722 where they found a First Order staging point and then Dameron was forced to engage and avoid two dozen TIE fighters while BB-8 located the Zyde’s ID transponder aboard one of the Star Destroyers. When they were ready to leave, Dameron made an "L'ulo Stand" and managed to escape back to Mirrin Prime. Upon his return to that planet he'd met a Major Caluan Ematt and was then made to enter a briefing room alone to meet General Leia Organa, who requested that Poe tell her everything about the Yissira Zyde. Upon ending his account of that skirmish, Organa did realize that Dameron reminded her of her brother Luke Skywalker―for being passionate, this outstanding pilot and dedicated to doing what was right―, and then offered him the opportunity to join the Resistance in the conflict against the First Order. Dameron immediately accepted. Retaining his rank of commander and now in charge of his own fighter wing, Dameron was transferred to Echo of Hope.

Resistance Service Edit

Resistance Starfighter Pilot Edit

In the next few months following his joining this Resistance, he went on to help in the recruiting efforts to find additional pilots, scout missions, a long-range reconnaissance, and searching for signs of First Order movement and positions. In his service to this Resistance, Dameron became one of Organa's most-trusted operatives, and quickly rose through the ranks of their understaffed starfighter Corps, earning the command of both Red and Blue Squadron―the latter of which served as a primary line of defense for the Resistance base on D'Qar. Under the callsign of Black Leader, to denote his customized, dark-hulled T-70 X-wing fighter Black One, Dameron was assisted during his flights by BB-8. Eventually he was recruited by Organa for a Operation Sabre Strike to steal navicomputer intel from Hevurion Grace, which belonged to First Order sympathizer and Republic senator, Erudo Ro-Kiintor. Dameron, in turn, recruited Kun and Arana and then acquired three Z-95 Headhunters for an operation Saber Strike. Forced to leave the droid BB-8 behind, Dameron along with an team then went to the Uvoss star system and had awaited for the Pinnacle-class luxury ship to eventually arrive.

When the ship did arrive Kun and Arana disabled and escorted it as planned, while Dameron used an EVA suit to board Ro-Kiintor's Grace. Inside, he claimed the ship for the Irving Boys to cover his true allegiance, and forced the Senator, a pilot and an servant to go into the escape pods. Dameron then made it to the ship's cockpit and worked at restarting an droid engines when First Order vessels appeared. Depite engaging one Frigate and two star Destroyers, Dameron, Kun and Aranda managed to escape then land the respective ships aboard this Echo of Hope. General Organa had met with Dameron and sent C-3PO to find everything he could from these flight computers. That next morning Dameron confided in Organa that Poe was angry and worried at the situation which did echo the Imperial Era's characteristic hopelessness that his parents told him of. Leia then resolved to locate Lor San Tekka, whom the First Order was trying to locate whom Organa believed held a clue to her brother's location. Determined to locate her brother before the First Order could, Leia tasked Dameron with finding Lor San Tekka, Poe then had formed the Black Squadron to help search for Lor San Tekka.
