Biography
Early Life
Born on Dorin, planet of Kel Dor, Plo Koon was accustomed to breathing from an atmosphere that contained little oxygen, and because of this Plo Koon would be forced to wear antiox breath mask when abroad. Born into an Kel Dor family with a strong connection to the Force, Koon's own Force-Sensitivity was found early and he was turned over to the Jedi early on in his infancy for training. Plo was trained at the Coruscant Jedi Temple for most his youthful years, eventually passing Initiate Trials and after he became eligible to be made a Padawan. He was selected by an esteemed Jedi Council member, Jedi Plo had a reputation for making quick and clear distinctions when regarding right and wrong. Often taking swift, decisive actions with little thought of repercussions, an attitude that combined with Plo's sarcastic wit, often tried the patience of his master.
Jedi of the Order
Jedi of the High Council
After years of study with his instructor, Plo Koon was ready to take the Trials of Knighthood, eventually completing them successfully and being elevated to the rank of Jedi Knight by the High Council. By proving himself a compassionate and wise member of the Jedi Order, Jedi Koon would sometime after becoming a Knight be promoted to rank of Master and was given a life-time seat on the Jedi High Council of their Order, seeking to guide the galaxy amid the threat of war and strange stirrings in the Force. During a mission to Shili, he found an infant, Force-Sensitive Togruta named Ahsoka Tano. Taking her to the Temple for training, he kept an eye on her progression through Jedi Academy, nicknaming her as "Little Soka" and maintaining a close bond with her. During the blockade of the planet Naboo by the Trade Federation, the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi were sent to negotiate, but the Trade Federation attempted to kill them. After escaping Naboo with Queen Padmé Amidala and reaching Coruscant, Jinn came before the Jedi Council and described a Lightsaber duel he had on Tatooine with a Zabrak, whom Jinn believed to be an Sith. Qui-Gon Jinn also presented Anakin Skywalker, a young slave he had freed on Tatooine, before their Jedi Order High Council, stating he'd believed the young boy Anakin to be the Chosen One due to his high Midi-Chlorian count and good grasp on the Force.
But the Council, was sceptical about the return of the Sith and denied Jinn's wishes to train Skywalker as a Jedi, due to his age. Following the demise of Jinn at the hands of the warrior Darth Maul, during the Naboo liberation from the Trade Federation, Koon traveled to the world along with most of the other Jedi Council members, for Jinn's funeral. Their Jedi Council then decided to elevate Obi-Wan Kenobi to the rank of Jedi Knight and allowed him to take young Anakin as his Padawan in order to honor the dying wish of the Jedi Jinn. A decade after the blockade of Naboo, Koon continued to sit on the Order's High Council. The Galactic Republic was in turmoil as thousands of their star systems, led by former Jedi Master Count Dooku, threatened to secede from the Republic. Koon was one of several Jedi, including the Jedi Council members Yoda, Mace Windu, and Kit Fisto as well as Master Luminara Unduli and her Padawan Barriss Offee, who then joined the Loyalist Committee in meeting with Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine to discuss the crisis. Koon was later present when Obi-Wan Kenobi contacted the Jedi Temple and informed them that Dooku and several corporate leaders of the Separatist Alliance crisis movement were meeting on the world of Geonosis and were planning to start a war with the Galactic Republic by creating the Confederacy of Independent Systems to fight the Republic and forge new society.
Dawn of the Clone Wars
Obi-Wan Kenobi was taken captive by the Separatist forces, and the Jedi began putting together a plan to free him and to stop the Secessionist Movement before it had started galactic war. Accompanying Master Windu to Geonosis as part of a massive task force of Jedi, their group charged across the plains of Geonosis to rescue fellow Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padawan Anakin Skywalker, and Senator Padmé Amidala. Koon and his fellow Jedi revealed themselves during their allies attempted execution in the Petranaki arena. A battle soon erupted between the Jedi and the native species of Geonosians, who were reinforced by a massive army of droids. As their strike team's numbers dwindled, Plo was one of several Jedi survivors who gathered in the middle of the execution arena. Dooku ordered the droid army to halt a attack and had offered the Jedi a chance to surrender, but they refused to stand down. As all battle droids prepared to execute them, Plo Koon and their other survivors were rescued from certain death by the newly discovered clone Grand Army of the Republic, a secret clone army developed for the Republic without proper authorization of the Galactic Senate or the Jedi High Council. Plo Koon would rally his new troops of clone soldiers on the fields outside the Geonosian arena, then leading them into the first battle of Clone Wars, a conflict that lasted years and stood as a first full scale war in millennia.
Grand Republic General
Returning to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to beginning planning the war strategy and military movements, Jedi Master Plo Koon was made Jedi General within the Republic Army and given control of a fleet of ships. After the destruction of multiple Republic battlegroups, Master Plo was sent to investigate aboard the Triumphant and if possible, to take down the new mystery weapon. The Triumphant was spotted by General Grievous in a new flagship the Malevolence, however before they could engage Grievous the entire fleet was disabled and destroyed by the massive ships destructive power. Koon ordered an evacuation as the Malevolence began destroying their ships, and escaped in an escape pod alongside Wolffe, Sergeant Sinker, and Boost. A group of battle droid hunters soon attacked them with a mission to destroy all the survivors, but Plo Koon and the clones were able to fight them off. Before they could be destroyed, Skywalker and Tano arrived in the Twilight and rescued Plo Koon and his men before escaping the system. His forces soon united with those of Anakin's and with Y-Wings, and together they planned to deliver a devastating blow to the Malevolence. The shortcut they took was risky, but in the end they were able to make it to Malevolence's intended target and deliver great damage.
Not long after the battle and the reinforcements arrived, the Jedi rescued a captive Padmé Amidala from the droid army forces on the large ship, and Skywalker was able to set a trap which destroyed the Malevolence. Plo Koon served in two Battles of Felucia. With the first battle, he led gunships and V-19 Torrents pass a Separatist blockade to aid Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka on the battle below. Later on he, Anakin, Ahsoka, Wolffe, Rex, and the 501st along with the Wolf Pack destroyed the Separatists defenses. Plo led Anakin, Rex, and the 501st on the attack on the base as Ahsoka led Wolffe, Comet, and the other Wolf Pack troopers. Plo Koon also participated in the hunt to capture infamous Boba Fett. Plo and his droid were holding a meeting with other Jedi until R2-D2 intruded and showed a message of Skywalker dying on the crashed Endurance. Plo took Tano and the Wolf Pack to Vanqor and rescued Mace Windu and Anakin before the bridge of the ship collapsed. Plo ordered Wolffe to call a medical crew over to attend the two injured Jedi. Koon later presented Windu and Skywalker the message from Boba and his mentor, Aurra Sing, to Windu. Aurra had three prisoners, and she demanded to agree with terms with Windu if not each soldier goes down, with Sing killing clone commander Ponds first.
Plo and Tano both went into the underworld of Coruscant to seek information until Ahsoka heard a rumor that someone was murdered on Florrum. When they arrived, they were greeted by Hondo Ohnaka, who warned them of an trap inside. Koon went first, to find Aurra Sing at a table. Koon sat down, and Fett came in behind him and pulled a gun on him. He was surprised to find him there, and not Windu, but was even more surprised when Tano came and held her Lightsaber to Sing's throat. Sing kicked the table at Koon, and shot at Tano, who blocked it. Aurra dashed away, and Ahsoka Tano chased after. Fett tried to escape, but Koon caught him. He'd asked Fett where the hostages were, but Boba refused to answer. Koon brought him to Ohnaka, who convinced him to reveal the information. Transmitting the information to the Padawan companion, Koon was able to see the hostages freed, Bossk and Fett captured, and hunter Sing go down to her "death" in the Slave I. He then brought Fett back to Coruscant and put in the prison there. Koon was present at the Temple when Delta Squad brought back the remains of two Jedi who were massacred on Devaron. Koon surmised that there was a new threat to the Jedi Order and Republic, and that perhaps it was a newly appointed Dark Lord of the Sith.
During the Second Battle of Felucia, Ahsoka Tano was captured by Trandoshan hunters who had kidnapped beings and hunt down for sport. Koon and Skywalker's men searched the nearby jungle for Ahsoka, but found no trace of her. Koon let all Republic forces throughout the Outer Rim, as well as spies within the Confederacy, know of Tano's disappearance so they would be alerted if anyone found her. He then noted that with the mission on Felucia over, both master Plo Koon along with knight Anakin had needed to return to Coruscant. Skywalker was unwilling to abandon the search for his Jedi Padawan, but he told Anakin that his emotions were clouding his judgment and that it was time for them to depart. After he returned to the Temple, Skywalker continued to oversee the search for his missing student. Koon talked to him about how strong Tano was, and that her determination, which she shared with her master, would help her survive. He also did caution that Skywalker might not be able to locate her, but that she would instead use her training to make her own way back to the Jedi. Tano would be returned to the Jedi Temple by Wookiee Tarfful and a bounty hunter Sugi alongside two liberated Jedi younglings, after they had overcome Trandoshan hunters with help from the Wookiee named Chewbacca.
Fall of the Order
End of Jedi and Rise of Sith
Jedi Master Plo Koon was one of the Jedi present for the funeral of the victims of a bombing at the Jedi Temple Hangar. When Ahsoka Tano had escaped from prison while she was under suspicion of organizing the bombing, Master Plo and Anakin Skywalker were assigned the task of looking for Tano in the Coruscant Underworld with search parties of clones, including Clone Commander Wolffe and members of the Coruscant Guard. As their Republic police gunships came in to land, Skywalker spotted Tano and Asajj Ventress talking, but the pair had managed to flee. Later, one underworld police officer reported a disturbance, and Koon arrived with Skywalker and Captain Rex to find that Tano had been discovered and stunned by Wolffe in a warehouse full of nano-droids. Koon was one of the several Jedi, along with Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Mace Windu, and Yoda, who made the decision to expel Ahsoka Tano from the Jedi Order for the acts of treason against the Republic. He attended Ahsoka's trial in front of an military tribunal, where all charges against her had been ultimately dropped after Barriss Offee confessed that she was the actual mastermind behind the bombing.
Afterwards, Koon and several other Jedi masters apologized to Tano for not trusting her, and offered to accept her back into their Order, but Tano chose not to rejoin. After the fires on Coruscant subsided, Master Plo Koon was tasked to lead a campaign on Cato Neimoidia, charged with maintaining control of Neimoidian homeworld while Republic forces drove out the last remnants of the Separatist Droid Army. While leading clean up operations in the skies of the world, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine revealed his alter ego on Coruscant, he was indeed a Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious. Unaware of this stunning revelation, Master Plo was not prepared for the consequences of this reality. As the Kel Dor Jedi Master led an escorting squadron of starfighters, Sidious initiated Order 66 from Coruscant. Unsuspecting of the danger he was in, Koon's craft was struck by a volley of laser fire as his escorts fired on their newly assigned target. His starboard wing in flames, the craft's engines exploded, consuming Koon's body and ending his life. Plo's crippled fighter promptly went into a spin, clipping the spire-shaped staging area of the bridge city below and breaking apart, ejecting Plo's astromech.
